Latest Progress on the Christine Lea Frisoni Dollhouse
Everything was cut with an oscillating multi tool.
Oscillating tools have the advantage of being able to cut much straighter and thinner than jig saws and yet still be handheld and lightweight.
Even thinner cuts can be done accurately and precisely, almost as precise as a table saw.
I was even able to do long rip cuts from 4 feet by 8 feet hardboard. Unlike the book, most of the house will be constructed with hardboard and not plywood.
I've used all purpose joint compound rather than filler/spackle. The only difference is that joint compound takes a longer to dry and has slightly more shrinkage than spackle. Joint compound costs much less per weight than spackle.
The textured look was done with a painter's spatula.
You can further smooth the joint compound by sanding. Wear a respirator mask and sand outdoors, as joint compound contains gypsum.
Next step is gesso and bristol board "stone" facade.
